A High Court judge has ruled against an attempt by campaigners to halt work on an asbestos contaminated site in Widnes.
Derby Road Residents Associations had applied to the High Court for an injunction to stop Green Remediation, a company tasked with cleaning the former Marley Eternit site until an environmental impact assessment has been carried out.
The works produced asbestos containing products for the building trade and is to be redeveloped by Bellway Homes and Langham Estate Planning to include industrial units, a hotel and 123 homes.
The Association alleges that asbestos fibres were being released into the atmosphere by the remediation, but were unable produce any proof of this and the judge told the protestors that they would need to produce an independent report showing proof of asbestos fibres in the air.
AMS are UKAS accredited to carry out analytical air monitoring during contaminated land remediation.
